yeah ive saved for it so long, felt awesome and frightening at the same time using my credit card at the shop, haha.

I dont have any experience with primes for nikon in this range, but the lens is the best I have. Ive read reviews stating that too.

Its on my d300 all day now (perfect fov for 1,5 IMO). Sharp and renders colors perfecly. Ive really missed wide angle.

I have been getting into photojournalism lately and needed a wide lens, so I was checking this one out, bracing myself for the cost, when I came across reviews of the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8

Basically a number of reviews I read said that if you have a FX sensor body then by all means get the 14-24, but if you have a DX body then save your money and get the Tokina because it is "as sharp" and 1/3 of the price. (I do definitely doubt it is as sharp as the nikon, but it is still an extremely sharp lens.)

And I came into this never even considering buying a third-party lens, but every review of the Tokina was amazing, so I went for it and have been happy with it
